For a bird’s eye view of London, the London Eye provides spectacular views over the city’s famous landmarks, buildings and river. Soaring above London on one of the worlds tallest observations wheels is an unforgettable experience.

Located on the South Bank of the River Thames, the London Eye is a distinctive highlight of London’s horizon and offers unrivalled views over the capital. Rising 135 metres (443 feet) above the city the observation wheel contains 32 air conditioned and fully-enclosed capsules. Rotating at less than a mile an hour, a full rotation or “flight” takes thirty minutes. A breathtaking feat of design and engineering, passengers in the London Eye capsules can see up to 25 miles (40 kilometres) in all directions. It permits view’s of London from an entirely new perspective, and passengers can see parts of the city that are generally not visible from the ground.

Since its opening in the year 2000, the British Airways London Eye has become the most popular paid-for UK attraction, drawing over 3.5 million people a year (an average of 10,000 a day). It took the skills of hundreds of people from five countries and seven years to make the London Eye a reality. However there’s much, much more to the Eye than its amazing views and engineering. It has become an iconic symbol of London.

The Great Wall of China is beyond doubt one of the most amazing human-made structures in the world and walking on the Great Wall is as powerful an experience as you would imagine.

Snaking 6,700km (4,163 miles) from east to west, the Great Wall of China can be wild and crumbly, with some parts erased with the ravages of time. And then there are the perfectly intact sections where the stone steps become a welcome mat for day trippers to walk back in time.

The Great Wall was built to fortify China against the attack of nomadic hordes, section by section, between the 5th century BC and 16th century AD, making it truly one of the world’s greatest man-made projects. The most popular section of the Great Wall is located at Badaling, approximately 60km from Beijing’s city centre. Built during the Ming Dynasty, the wall there is 8 metres (26 feet) high and 6 metres (20 feet) wide and, although readily accessible to visitors of all ages, parts can be quite steep. Watchtowers built on the Wall at 500 metre (1,640 feet) intervals provided accommodation, a storage facility for military equipment, and a protected area for the observation of enemy movements. There are also other sections accessible to tourists including Mutianyu and Simatai which have less tourists and especially in the case of the latter, offer a more authentic view of the Great Wall.

A trip to the Great Wall of China could be one of the biggest adventures of your life, and it’s definitely one of the world’s great wonders to behold.

With its rugged escarpments, lush wetlands, plunging gorges and cascading waterfalls, Kakadu National Park offers visitors a new world of sights, sounds and experiences. Renowned for its extraordinary natural wonders and rich cultural traditions, World Heritage listed Kakadu has a reputation for overloading the senses.

Located in Australia’s tropical Northern Territory, Kakadu is Australia’s largest national park, and one of the largest in the world, covering approximately 20,000 square kilometers (7,722 square miles).

Kakadu is an incredibly ecologically and biologically diverse area with many different landforms and habitats, including sandstone plateaus and escarpments, areas of savanna woodlands and open forest, rivers, billabongs, floodplains, mangroves and mudflats. Kakadu also supports an extraordinary diversity of wildlife with over 280 species of birds, 60 kinds of native mammals, 55 kinds of freshwater fish, thousands of insect species and 75 different kinds of reptile (more than you’ll find in the whole of Europe) including goannas, frill-necked lizards, and of course the famous saltwater crocodile.

Kakadu National Park’s impressive sandstone escarpments feature some of the finest and most accessible rock art in the world. Archaeological evidence points to the Kakadu area being home to Aboriginal people for more than 50,000 years. As a result, there is a rich heritage of Aboriginal art (including cave paintings and rock carvings) and archaeological sites throughout the region. Many Aboriginal artefacts have been found at old camping sites, particularly in the escarpment and floodplain country, recording the skills and way of life of the region’s original inhabitants.

Many say that to visit the park in the wet season (December to March) is the best – the only time. In the wet, the park drowns in water, heat, humidity, bright tropical colours, nature in the raw – all the fundamental elements that make up Australia’s unique natural world. Kakadu is a landscape of contrasts. Beneath waters dotted with delicate pink lotus flowers lurks the crocodile. Jagged peaks of towering escarpments hide pockets of lush rainforest. Roaring waterfalls thunder down rocky gorges to serene pools fringed with paperbarks, pandanus and cycads. If you get up early and head off the beaten track a little – you’ll be rewarded with vistas of remarkable colour and significant wildlife.

The immense natural beauty and cultural importance of Kakadu National Park make a trip into Kakadu an unforgettable experience.

Australia’s Great Barrier Reef offers some of the most spectacular diving in the world. With stunning coral formations and crystal clear waters teaming with marine life, diving the Great Barrier Reef is an amazing experience.

One of the natural wonders of the world, the Great Barrier Reef is the most extensive structure ever created by living organisms extending 2600 km (1616 miles) and covering an area of approximately 344,400 square kilometers (132,974 sq mi) in the Coral Sea off the coast of Queensland in northeast Australia. It is the largest coral reef system in the world made up of some 2800 individual reefs and its ecosystem supports the greatest concentration of life on this planet with its resident marine life including 1,500 species of fish, 350 different kinds of coral, 4000 species of molluscs and 10,000 species of sponges. It also provides breeding areas for humpback whales, sea turtles, dugong and seabirds.

With its rich marine life, stunning coral formations, comfortable year round water temperatures and amazing visibility, the Great Barrier Reef provides spectacular diving. Whether you are a beginner or expert diver Australia’s Great Barrier Reef should be at the top of your list. If you cant dive, don’t worry because the Great Barrier Reef is one of the world’s most accessible reefs and offers excellent snorkeling. There are many places where you can walk straight into the reef from a beach.

Going for a dive or snorkel in the spectacular World Heritage Great Barrier Reef is definitely something that must be experienced. Have you been for a dive or snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef? Is it something you think is worth experiencing?

If you want to take in the spectacle of Sydney harbour and the city skyline, the best view is from the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Since 1998, BridgeClimb has made it possible for tourists to climb the bridge which stands 134 metres (429.6 feet) above the harbour. Tours run throughout the day, from dawn to dusk, and night climbs are also available. Groups of up to 12 climbers are provided with protective clothing appropriate to the prevailing weather conditions and are given an orientation before climbing. During the climb, climbers are secured to the bridge by a wire lifeline. Each climb begins on the eastern side of the bridge and ascends to the top. At the summit, the group crosses to the western side of the arch for the descent. Each climb is a three-and-a-half-hour experience.

Climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge gives you an idea of its size and magnitude and provides wonderful views of the city, the Sydney Opera House, the harbour and the Bridge itself beneath your feet. From the summit the view extents from the coast line to the east to the Blue Mountains in the west. Climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge truly is a breathtaking experience.
